How is Motéa natural and plastic-free?
We believe that we shouldn't have to sacrifice our personal health or the health of the planet to engage in our pleasure. So from the products themselves, to how we package and post your orders, Motéa has ditched the plastic.
All Motéa products are also made from natural materials, such as crystals or glass for the wands, so you can shop with us knowing that no matter what item you invest in and purchase, you're making a difference.
How is delivery carbon neutral?
We use Australia Post for our deliveries. Every time we send your packages, Australia Post offsets the carbon emissions as well as continues to invests in positive processes to reduce their emissions, such as switching to electric bikes and vehicles. Is glass a more sustainable option for pleasure products?
Glass is a resource efficient material made from abundant natural raw materials, such as sand. To add icing to the already delish cake, glass is a fully recyclable material and can be recycled over and over again and never lose its integrity.
On the other hand, certain pleasure products (such as vibrators and dildos) made from man-made alternatives like synthetics, silicone and plastics cannot break down or be recycled and will inevitably end up in landfill when their time is up.
To find out more about silicone and why we avoid it at Motéa, jump onto Life Without Plastics for an insightful read.
Are crystals sustainable?
As crystals can take hundreds of years to form, we acknowledge they aren't the most renewable of products. The difference from regular intimacy and pleasure products however, such as those made from silicone or plastics, is that they will last a lifetime. And if for whatever reason you decide that you no longer want to hold onto your crystal, you can return it back to the earth. Say goodbye to adding to landfill!
The majority of our crystals are sourced from Brazil and carved in China, where workers are treated well and paid fairly. The supplier of Motéa's crystals ensures workers' welfare through paid monthly wages in line with their fair workers rights and law, and provided with time off conforming with their official holidays.
Due to the nature of crystal mining, we are looking into sustainable ways that we can offset any waste created from these processes. Our biggest value is doing good for the planet, so check back here soon to see what progress we're making to continue to reduce our carbon-footprint as a business.
What packaging do you use and is it discrete?
Your products will be posted to you using black packaging with no specific Motéa branding, keeping your purchase discrete.
We use another Australian brand, Hero Packaging, for our biodegradable and compostable (yay!) postage satchels. Not all "biodegradable and compostable" products are made the same. Many brands require industrial machines and process to brake it down, however that's not the case with our Hero bags.
To find out more about how the bags are made and how they can be composted (Hint: just throw them into your garden, warm farm or compost bin! And if you don't have any of those, they will still break down in landfill), head to their website: https://heropackaging.com.au

Do you post internationally?
Not yet! We're looking into ways that we can post internationally that are sustainable, efficient and cost-effective. Stay tuned for any updates on this in the future.
My product looks different to your photos. Is there something wrong with it?
Nope not at all! Just like every human is unique, so are our crystals and glass products. Every one of our products are handmade, therefore there may be slight changes in shape and size to our photos (but we think that makes them even more special). Please be aware of this when you receive your order.
For our crystals, they may differ in colour, shade or pattern. It's also not uncommon to see minor surface variations (as they are made from raw materials), which may appearance as discolouration, fine lines or cracks.
With these variations, they may still be considered normal and safe for intimate use, unless there are large and obvious cracks or imperfections. If this is the case, or you feel your product is faulty, please get in contact with us immediately (refer below on returns and refunds policy).
Do you accept returns or refunds?
Due to the material that our products are made from, minor surface variations are common and may be considered normal and safe for intimate use. If you believe the product you received is not safe for internal use, please contact us immediately upon receiving your order.
In the unlikely event that your item is damaged during transit or is faulty, we will provide an exact exchange. Email us photos of the postal packaging and product to email@example.com immediately after receiving your order. Pre-authorisation of all exchanges required.
Due to the nature of all products, change of mind returns are not available. In the case where a purchase error is made, contact us via email to discuss a resolution.
